Preparing an executive meeting on a yacht

A meeting on the water works best when it is planned like a meeting, not like a cruise. The view is a welcome extra; the agenda, the seating and the timing of service are what make it productive. Here is what we suggest thinking through before the day.

Shape the agenda around the cruise

Put the items that need full attention at the start, when everyone is fresh and the yacht is moving slowly. Leave the lighter conversation, introductions or a toast for the second half, when guests naturally drift towards the windows and the deck. If you plan a meal, decide whether it is a break between two sessions or the end of the meeting, and tell us, so the crew serves at the right moment and stays out of the room when you are talking.

Practical details for the room

• Bring printed papers rather than relying on screens, and fully charge laptops and phones before boarding.
• Tell us the seating you want, around one table facing each other or in a more relaxed lounge layout.
• If the discussion is confidential, say so, and we will brief the crew on when to serve and when to leave you alone.
• Decide in advance who on your side greets the guests at the pier and who closes the meeting.

Hosting visiting guests

Ask your guests about dietary needs and whether they drink alcohol, and share it with us so the table is set accordingly. Keep it short or make it an evening

A focused meeting with coffee may need only a short cruise, while a negotiation followed by dinner can run into the evening. Be realistic about how long people can concentrate, and plan the meal as the reward at the end. If the meeting is a prelude to a larger evening with more guests, consider following it with a private dinner cruise.

Executive yacht charter prices: what affects your quote

Every executive charter is planned around your guests, so we prepare a written proposal. The price is based on five things:

• The yacht: size and capacity
• Duration: from a 2-hour meeting to a full evening
• Date and time: weekends, summer evenings and holidays are busiest
• Group size: number of adults and children
• Food, drinks and extras: what you add to the cruise

Choose the pier closest to your hotel, office or venue; for large groups we can also arrange transfers. We board from eight piers along the Bosphorus:
