Photos from our Old City tours

Fifteen centuries of Istanbul in one walk

Sultanahmet, the historic peninsula between the Golden Horn and the Sea of Marmara, was the heart of the city for both the Byzantine and the Ottoman empires. Almost everything first-time visitors want to see is here, a few minutes' walk apart, and this full-day tour visits all of it with a licensed guide who brings the stories to life.

You start at the Hippodrome, where chariots once raced, then visit the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, stop for lunch at a local restaurant, and spend the afternoon at Topkapı Palace and in the lanes of the Grand Bazaar. Hotel pickup, lunch and the entrance fees are included, so there are no queues to buy tickets and nothing to organise. Prefer your own guide and car? Book a private Istanbul tour.
